Doree 2, which premiered on January 1 this year, is set to wrap up by Mid-June. How is the cast reacting to this development? While it’s certainly an emotional moment, Ishaan Dhawan, who plays the male lead, shared his thoughts on the news.
The second season of Doree, which premiered on January 21 this year, is all set to end soon. The family drama, which stars Priyanshi Yadav and Ishaan Dhawan as the lead couple, the popular family drama is expected to go off-air in June.
While rumours suggest that the final episode might air on June 9, lead actor Ishaan Dhawan clarified that nothing has been officially confirmed. In a conversation with Downtown Mirror Weekly, he said, “Yes, it’s true that Doree 2 is wrapping up next month, but the exact date hasn’t been finalised yet. We don’t even know when our last day of shooting will be.”
Despite the emotional weight of a show coming to an end, Ishaan maintains an optimistic outlook. Ishaan Dhawan shared, “I believe in moving forward and taken on a new and meaningful character. Puraani cheez jaayegi tabhi nayi aayegi (only when something old ends can something new begin).”
Speaking about the ever-evolving nature of television, Ishaan spoke about the conclusion of his previous show, Dhruv Tara, and how it shaped his journey. Ishaan Dhawan added, “When that show ended, everyone felt it was too soon. But if Dhruv Tara hadn’t concluded, my character Maan Thakur in Doree 2 wouldn’t have come into existence. And now, once Maan’s journey ends, it’ll make space for another character to emerge. That’s just how life works.”
Seasoned actor Amar Upadhyay, who had been part of Doree since the inception of the first season, returned to the second season to again play the role of Ganga Thakur but exited the show in March. In an effort to add fresh dynamics to the narrative towards its final leg, the makers recently brought in seasoned actress Sudha Chandran as Kailashi Thakur. However, with the show now nearing its conclusion, her appearance will be relatively brief.
While the end of Doree 2 may disappoint fans, Ishaan’s perspective reminds us that every ending makes room for a new beginning.
