Rhythm Sanadhya on Aditi Sharma: “She Is an Intelligent Artist Who Deeply Understands Emotions”
Music video director Rhythm Sanadhya, known for collaborating with renowned artists such as Shahid Mallya, Jubin Nautiyal, and Asees Kaur, recently helmed the emotional track Ishq Zalim Hai featuring actress Aditi Sharma.
She has previously directed Har Safar Mein from Kapil Sharma’s movie Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, Rhythm Sanadhya says working with Aditi was a creatively fulfilling experience and describes her as an actress who effortlessly brings a director’s vision to life.
Speaking about Aditi’s portrayal in the song, Rhythm Sanadhya shared that she immediately saw shades of the character in the actress herself.
“I Saw the Character Reflected in Her”: Rhythm on Casting Aditi Sharma
“Aditi Sharma possesses a rare blend of grace and strength, which made her the perfect choice for this character.” The girl in Ishq Zalim Hai is loving, caring, and compassionate, but she eventually experiences betrayal and heartbreak. She carries that pain within her and chooses dignity over revenge. Through the song, audiences witness two sides of Aditi — one that is soft, affectionate, and nurturing, and another that is intense, emotional, and driven by deep hurt,” Rhythm Sanadhya explained.
Despite the song’s emotionally heavy theme, the atmosphere on set remained warm and cheerful.
“Although the story was deeply emotional and heartbreaking, the atmosphere on set was filled with warmth, positivity, and plenty of laughter. Both Aditi Sharma and Hamd Khan were extremely comfortable to work with, which made the entire process enjoyable and smooth,” she said.
Director Rhythm Sanadhya Shares Why Aditi Sharma Was Perfect for Ishq Zalim Hai
Rhythm Sanadhya revealed that casting Aditi was not a spontaneous decision. In fact, she had wanted to work with the actress long before Ishq Zalim Hai came her way.
“Aditi Sharma’s greatest strength as a performer lies in her deep emotional intelligence and her ability to translate feelings into powerful performances. We became good friends over time, and from our very first interaction, I noticed the emotional depth she carries within herself. She not only understands feelings but also knows how to express them beautifully on screen.”
Rhythm Sanadhya added, “During our conversations, I realised that she has an entire ocean of emotions within her. That was the moment I knew I wanted to cast her in a deeply emotional project. Ishq Zalim Hai happened much later — I was simply waiting for the right story and the right opportunity.”
The director was particularly impressed by Aditi’s commitment during the filming process and praised her dedication to every scene.
“She was fully invested in the project and deeply involved in every moment of the song. In the climax sequence, where her character is dying, Aditi completely surpassed expectations. The emotions flowed so naturally and powerfully that the entire team simply followed her energy while filming the scene,” Rhythm Sanadhya recalled.
The Actress Delivered a Powerful Scene Despite Being Unwell
One memory from the shoot continues to stand out for the filmmaker.
“I remember one particular day when Aditi was actually quite unwell. After a long day of shooting, I was worried about how she would manage the final sequence because it demanded intense crying, emotional breakdowns, fireworks, and a very serious performance. It required tremendous emotional strength. But when the cameras rolled, she delivered the scene with such honesty and conviction that nobody could tell she wasn’t feeling well.”
For Rhythm Sanadhya, the success of Ishq Zalim Hai was rooted not only in talent but also in the trust and understanding shared between a director and an actor.
How Friendship and Emotional Understanding Shaped Ishq Zalim Hai
“To bring a song like this to life, it’s important for the actor and director to be emotionally aligned. Aditi and I spent a lot of time discussing the characters, sharing personal experiences, and understanding the emotional journey of the story. We carefully explored the lyrics and music to truly connect with the soul of the song.”
She concluded, “That level of collaboration, trust, and emotional honesty is what helped us create Ishq Zalim Hai in the way audiences see it today.”
