Srushti Mishra celebrates the evolving landscape of female roles in Indian entertainment, crediting OTT platforms and shifting audience preferences.
She believes this creative progress is offering women stronger, more dynamic characters than ever before.
Actress Srushti Mishra, who was last seen portraying the role of Ragini in Ram Bhavan, produced by Rahul Kumar Tewary under Rolling Tales Production, believes that the entertainment industry is going through a refreshing transformation—especially for women.
With the rise of multiple platforms and evolving content demands
Srushti Mishra feels this is an exciting time to be an actor. “There’s nothing better for an actor than having so many platforms and genres to explore,” she says with enthusiasm.
Srushti Mishra adds, “Especially for women—the roles have evolved so much. Earlier, we were often limited to playing housewives or side characters in the background. Now, we’re portraying strong, layered, and complex women who drive the narrative.”
Srushti Mishra attributes this positive shift to two key factors: the emergence of OTT platforms and a more progressive, content-driven audience. “Audiences are more open now,” she explains, adding, “They enjoy good writing, fresh stories, and variety. They’re no longer stuck on the same old rom-coms or soap opera tropes. That shift in preference has opened new doors for actors, especially women, to take on roles that are meaningful and creatively fulfilling.”
According to Srushti Mishra, this creative freedom not only pushes actors to perform better but also helps them stay motivated in an otherwise demanding industry. “That’s what keeps us excited as performers,” she adds.
Srushti Mishra shares, “You want to wake up and go to work knowing you’re part of something that matters, that challenges you and makes you grow.”
As the entertainment landscape continues to evolve
Srushti Mishra remains optimistic about the future. With changing narratives and increasing opportunities, she believes the industry is finally beginning to reflect the diverse and dynamic realities of women today—on screen and off.
