Two years after announcing her separation from her husband, Piyush Poorey, the actress confirmed that her divorce was finalized on February 5. The couple, who had been married since 2003, decided to part ways in 2022 due to compatibility issues. Speaking to E Times a month after the divorce was granted, Shubhangi reflected on the painful journey. “It was difficult,” she said, adding, “I was fully invested in the relationship, as I always am. But over time, Piyush and I developed irreconcilable differences. Now that I’m out of the marriage, I feel a sense of peace, like a heavy burden has been lifted. There’s a newfound freedom that’s hard to describe.”
For Shubhangi, the focus now is on her daughter, Ashi. She expressed a strong desire to provide her with a stable and joyful environment, saying, “The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to never depend on someone else for your happiness.” As for her relationship with Piyush, the actress emphasised that the decision about whether Ashi should meet her father is something she would leave up to her daughter.

While Shubhangi isn’t disillusioned about love, she made it clear that she’s not rushing into a new relationship.
Professionally, the actress first became a household name as Kasturi in Ekta Kapoor’s Kasturi and went on to showcase her versatility in multiple TV shows like Do Hanson Ka Jodaa, Havan, Chidiya Ghar, and Adhuri Kahaani Hamari. However, it was her role as the new Angoori Bhabhi in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai!, a sitcom she joined in 2016 following the exit of Shilpa Shinde, that truly catapulted her to stardom.
And there’s even more to look forward to from her. The makers of the beloved sitcom are set to turn the show into a film, and according to reports, the cast has already begun shooting.
