Piew Jana: Motherhood Can Sometimes Be Exhausting And Overwhelming, But It Has Made Me A Better Person

Piew Jana, who married businessman Manish Mishra in February 2019, embraced the joys of motherhood when she welcomed a baby boy in April 2023. Fully immersed in this new phase of life, the actress, last seen in Krishna Chali London, feels her world has undergone a complete transformation. Reflecting on how motherhood has impacted her, she says, “It may seem like a simple question, but it’s one that requires so much more than words to truly capture how becoming a mother alters everything in your life — and in you. I could go on and on, but I’ll try to give mothers-to-be a glimpse of what to expect. While motherhood can sometimes be exhausting, overwhelming, and even heartbreaking, it has undeniably made my life richer and has transformed me into a better person. I’m sure many other mothers would say the same.”

She continues, “There are three key ways in which motherhood shifts your entire existence — beyond the obvious physical changes. First, it changes your logistics: how you organize your time, your priorities, and your daily routine. Then, it shifts your identity, who you are, and how you see yourself. But perhaps most striking of all are the emotional changes—your heart grows in ways you never thought possible. Your emotions become more intense, your love deeper, and your vulnerability greater. It’s a beautiful, often overwhelming ride.”

Although she’s currently on a break from acting to dedicate time to her child, Piew has not lost her passion for her craft. When asked if she misses being on screen, she shares, “Right now, my focus is entirely on my son. While I know I’ll have plenty of time in the future to return to work, for now, I’m cherishing every moment with him. I feel his need for me and the pure love he gives me. This is my world right now, and it’s perfect.”

Even though she’s taking a break from acting, she stays attuned to the changes in the entertainment industry. Reflecting on the evolution of the field, she notes, “The industry has undergone massive transformations, especially with the rise of streaming platforms and digital filmmaking technologies. There’s been a shift toward more diverse and inclusive storytelling, which has opened up opportunities for varied narratives. Social media has also revolutionized audience engagement, allowing for faster production cycles, and a broader reach for filmmakers beyond traditional theatrical releases. It’s an exciting time to see how these changes are shaping the future of entertainment.”
