Ashita Dhawan: I’m Not Here To Copy Anyone. I’m Here To Be Me

Ashita Dhawan opens up about staying authentic in a trend-driven industry and her pursuit of roles that challenge her core. From resilience to reinvention, she’s not just acting — she’s evolving on her own terms.

In a world where actors often chase validation and trends, Ashita Dhawan stands out for her clarity, conviction, and commitment to authenticity. With years of experience in television and a reputation for playing emotionally rich characters, she continues to seek roles — and moments — that challenge her.

When it comes to drawing from other performers, Ashita Dhawan makes a sharp distinction between influence and imitation. “Being inspired is beautiful, but losing your voice in someone else’s style isn’t,” she says firmly. She adds, “I admire so many brilliant actors, but I make it a point to learn from them — not become them. There’s a fine line between being influenced and being a copy. I always try to stay true to my own voice.”

Surviving in a cutthroat industry takes more than talent, and the Sapna Babul Ka Bidaai actress knows that better than most. “Resilience is everything,” Ashita Dhawan says, adding, “You have to brace yourself for both praise and rejection. The industry evolves constantly, so adaptability is crucial. But above all, carry yourself with grace — especially when things don’t go your way. That’s the real test of character.”

With a strong connection to her audience, Ashita Dhawan, currently seen in Prem Leela, values the direct communication that social media allows. She shares, “I read most comments and DMs, even if I can’t reply to everyone. The love is humbling, and even the criticism has its place — it means people are watching, thinking, reacting. That engagement matters to me.”

And while she’s known for portraying emotionally grounded, strong women, she is hungry for something darker, deeper, and more unpredictable. Ashita Dhawan shares, “My dream is to play a grey-shaded character — someone layered and intense. I want a role that scares me a little, that forces me out of my comfort zone. That’s when the real magic happens.”
