Sneha Jain, who made a striking return to television in a negative role with Megha Barsenge after previously playing the protagonist in Saath Nibhaana Saathiya 2, seems to be unstoppable. The actress is eager to explore diverse characters, with historical drama currently at the top of her wishlist.
While many television actors prefer to stick to safe, positive portrayals on screen, actress Sneha Jain is anything but predictable. Known for her leading role in Saath Nibhaana Saathiya 2 followed by her appearance in Janam Janam Ka Saath, Sneha made a powerful comeback earlier this year in February with a bold move — playing a negative character in Megha Barsenge. The show, starring Neil Bhatt, Neha Rana, and Kinshuk Mahajan, marked her return to Hindi television and the world of fiction after a two-year hiatus.
Her portrayal of a layered, antagonistic role has been met with praise, and she relished the chance to explore a different shade of performance. “It was refreshing to step into a space that was challenging and so unlike anything I’d done before,” she shares.
Sneha Jain adds, “Playing a character with grey shades really allowed me to dig deeper into emotional complexity, and I loved every bit of it.”
However, Sneha Jain isn’t done evolving. She’s setting her sights on even more demanding roles, particularly those rooted in India’s rich past. “I’ve always been drawn to characters that have strength and depth. Recently, I’ve felt an urge to explore historical dramas — something where I can portray a woman from a different era, maybe a queen, a warrior, or someone with a poignant, culturally rich journey,” she says, adding, “I’d love to be part of a project like Heeramandi — not necessarily the same story, but something equally poetic, meaningful, and steeped in history.”
Interestingly, Megha Barsenge itself has undergone a dramatic transformation. The show recently took a seven-year time leap, with the original lead cast — including Neil, Neha, and Kinshuk — retained to carry the story forward. The leap promises fresh twists and deeper character arcs, keeping viewers hooked as the narrative enters an exciting new phase.
