Tere Mere Sapne and Asur 2 actress Ekta Tiwari have left a lasting mark on the entertainment industry. In an exclusive chat with Downtown Mirror Weekly, Ekta spoke at length about criteria’s that she considers before taking up a show, her dream role and more.

When asked if she prefers to take up positive or negative characters, Ekta Tiwari said, “My criteria to take up shows doesn’t depend on whether the character is positive or negative. I rather see the journey of the character, its graph and how it is affecting the story line.

Basically, the character should be meaty. I don’t like to take up characters that stand like a mannequin in the scenes and have nothing major to offer. When given a positive character, one needs to be very subtle, whereas in negative characters, actors can experiment a lot, in terms of look, the dialogues, expressions and so on. Having said that, I can’t really take a pick between the two.”

Talking about television show’s low shelf life, off late, Ekta Tiwari said, “Yes, the shelf life of TV shows has decreased considerably. I remember a TV show being made, I don’t want to name that show, but it shut down within 24 days, which is quite shocking. At times, the shows are good in the narration and they leave a mark during the making, however, at times, it loses its grip while being translated on the screen. I believe a lot of it is because of the comparisons and competition.”

Talking about her dream role in the entertainment industry, Ekta Tiwari said, “Well. I always tell people around me that I am an old soul in a young body. And thus, I love roles that have historical roots. A lot of movies, TV shows and even OTT projects are being made which offer such roles. That’s what I’d love to take up. Apart from that, there are a lot of characters from our daily life too. Many people who are just around us in our routine life, I’d love to play them as well on screen.”
