The Indian entertainment industry has lost one of its most revered veterans, Prem Sagar, whose legacy in mythological storytelling has left an indelible mark on Hindi television.

Prem Sagar Passed Away At The Age Of 81

The son of legendary filmmaker Ramanand Sagar, Prem Sagar carried forward his father’s vision with immense dedication, producing some of the most iconic shows that became household names.

His work on mythological series like Shri Krishna helped shape the spiritual television landscape of India, bringing timeless tales to life with authenticity and devotion.

Prem Sagar Began His Illustrious Career As A Cinematographer

News of his passing has sent a wave of grief through the industry, with actors, directors, and fans expressing their sorrow. Among them is actor Shubham Sahrawat, who is currently seen in Kaamdhenu Gaumata, a series rooted in cultural and devotional themes, something that Prem Sagar dedicated his life to.

Upon hearing the news, Shubham Sahrawat expressed his deep sorrow and paid an emotional tribute to the late producer. He said,

“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Prem Sagar ji. What a legend he truly was not just in terms of the magnificent work he gave to the world, but also for the kind of person he was. His kindness, grounded nature, and insightful guidance left a deep impression on all who had the chance to know him.”

Prem Sagar Was Not Just A Filmmaker But A Guiding Light

Shubham Sahrawat further added that the loss feels very personal to him, explaining how Prem Sagar’s presence was more than just that of a filmmaker.

He shared, “For me, his loss feels very personal because he was not just a filmmaker but a guiding light, someone who carried forward the legacy of storytelling with devotion and grace. The void he has left behind can never be filled, but his contributions and blessings will continue to inspire us forever.”

Prem Sagar passed away at the age of 81 on August 31, at his residence in Mumbai. He began his illustrious career as a cinematographer, contributing to numerous acclaimed films under the Sagar Arts banner.

His body of work includes notable titles like Ankhen, Charas, Bhagawat, Hamrahi, Pyara Dushman, Armaan, Jalte Badan, Badal, Prem Bandhan, Salma, and more. His debut film, Lalkar, a romantic war drama highlighted his remarkable ability to combine emotion and visual storytelling.

Transitioning into production and direction, Prem Sagar played an instrumental role in transforming Indian television. He brought to life some of the most iconic mythological series, including Vikram Aur Betaal, Ramayan, and Shri Krishna. These shows not only captivated viewers across the country but also defined a golden chapter in Indian TV history.

In collaboration with his son, Shiv Sagar, he co-founded Sagar World Multimedia (SWM), a creative venture that continues to develop diverse content across platforms.

The demise of Prem Sagar marks the end of a monumental era in the Indian entertainment industry.
