Kavitta Verma: Decorating My Home With Flowers Is My Favourite Diwali Ritual

Kavitta Verma shares her heartfelt thoughts on Diwali, celebrating it as a time for spiritual renewal, traditional values, and gratitude.

From childhood memories to present-day rituals, her message is one of conscious, meaningful celebration.

As the glow of Diwali lights up homes across the country, actress and poet Kavitta Verma reflects on the deeper meaning of the festival, one rooted in gratitude, spiritual energy, and timeless traditions. Last seen in Bejoy Nambiar’s Kaala, Kavitta’s words mirror the calm and consciousness she brings to both her art and her life.

She says, “Diwali is about traditional values. I celebrate Diwali with a few close people and prefer home get-togethers. It feels nice to light up my house and decorate it with flowers, which are my weakness! I love having flowers all around.”

For Kavitta, Diwali isn’t just an outward celebration, it’s also a moment of inner reflection and spiritual reset. She shares, “Our mindsets change due to life situations, and this is a good time to pray and stay in good energy. I am grateful to the universe for my spirit to keep walking ahead and overcoming all kinds of testing times.”

Reminiscing about childhood, she adds, “As a child, Diwali was all about eating sweets and playing with sparkle sticks. The excitement was simple yet so joyful.”

Kavitta also holds Dhanteras in special regard. “Dhanteras is a pious time, and I always buy a silver Lakshmi coin for puja. All I know is that when we pray, we join our hands together—and that won’t change ever, no matter how modern our social system becomes.”
