Skoda has unveiled the new Kushaq and this is a comprehensive update of the compact SUV which was first launched way back in. The new Kushaq is easily identified from the front end with a larger grille along with reprofiled headlamps which are full LED units.
The DRL lighting is connected now across the front of the car and the bumper design is tweaked too. There are new 17 inch dual tone alloy wheels being added and the Kushaq facelift would also be easily identified with a Skoda logo which lights up at the back plus again the LED lighting is connected. The bumper is also reshaped at the back.
Step inside and there is a new digital instrument cluster which welcomes you and it is more detailed now. There is a larger touchscreen too with Google built in. The touch climate control functions remain and the design is straightforward but quality is high even though some places like the black trim is a finger print magnet.
New key features include front parking sensor, dual electric seats with cooled feature and yes a panoramic sunroof now makes its way here along with even a rear seat massager!
The rear seat massager function is located via a proper button and it works as it says. Space is decent but not a huge change while the same can be said for the boot capacity. Safety has been increased as well which was needed including ADAS.
Skoda has continued to maintain the 1.0 and the 1.5 TSI turbo petrol engines but the 1.0 TSI now has an 8 speed torque converter gearbox which replaces the earlier 6 speed. The new gearbox is aimed at making it more fun to drive while the dual clutch automatic on the 1.5 TSI turbo petrol continues. Unlike rivals there is no diesel on offer though or any naturally aspirated petrol unit.
The new Kushaq will be launching soon and will be available with aggressive pricing while we have been told it will come standard with an electric sunroof which makes it value for money. That said, there is still some missing equipment.
While the segment is already crawling with numerous rivals like the Tata Sierra, Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos, the new Skoda Kushaq will maintain its fun to drive image while now it’s more appealing.
