Earlier in the morning today, reports about A R Rahman being admitted to the hospital first came out and everyone’s been talking about it ever since. However, latest reports have it that the singer suffered dehydration and got some medical tests done at a Chennai hospital on March 16.
Upon his return from London, the Oscar-winning musician had complained of discomfort, however, his son has now taken to Instagram and confirmed that while he is grateful for all the love, prayers and support, his father was merely weak due to dehydration. He confirmed that he got some routine tests done, however, he is doing well now.
In addition, A R Rahman’s team also went on to refute fake reports claiming that he was taken to the hospital due to chest pain. The source told Hindustan Times that he was doing fine and there was no chest pain whatsoever, just dehydration and neck pain due to travel.
Meanwhile, a medical bulletin (as per HT), also revealed that Dr RK Venkatasalam, Director of Medical Services, Apollo Hospitals Chennai undersigned a letter that revealed that he was admitted to the hospital due to dehydration and later discharged after a routine check-up. The said bulletin was dated March 16.

A R Rahman’s wife, Saira Banu, also released a statement, hoping for his speedy recovery and in fact, also requested everyone not to call her A R Rahman’s ex-wife, since they aren’t officially divorced.
For the unversed, the two announced their separation in November 2024. Through her advocate Vandana Shah, she released a statement on the matter and said how she wishes him a speedy recovery. She added how she received the news of him suffering chest pain and undergoing an angioplasty, but by the grace of god, he is fine now.
She concluded the statement by saying, “We have parted ways because I was not doing well for the last few years and I did not want to stress him. I appreciate everyone not to call me his ex-wife…”
