Aditi Khandelwal, Founder and Creative Director of Kicky & Perky Jewellery

Q1. What gap in the Indian luxury market inspired you to launch Kicky & Perky?

Aditi Khandelwal. When my sister Sanya and I founded Kicky & Perky in 2022, we weren’t trying to build another jewellery brand we wanted to build a contemporary Indian jewellery house.

We saw a clear gap in the market. Contemporary designer jewellery often prioritised aesthetics but was crafted in fashion metals, while traditional fine jewellery remained deeply rooted in occasion dressing and legacy purchases. There was very little that brought together exceptional craftsmanship, authentic materials, artistic storytelling and contemporary design in a way that resonated with modern consumers.

From the beginning, our vision was to elevate hallmarked 925 sterling silver into a premium design medium — not as an alternative to gold, but as a category worthy of its own identity. We wanted to create jewellery with the same level of craftsmanship, attention to detail and creative direction expected from the world’s finest jewellery houses.

Today, every Kicky & Perky collection begins with an idea. Whether inspired by Indian artistry, architecture, mythology, nature or contemporary culture, each collection is conceived as a distinct creative world where craftsmanship, emotion and design come together to create jewellery that is timeless, expressive and deeply personal.

Q2. How do you balance traditional silver craftsmanship with modern, everyday aesthetics?

Aditi Khandelwal. I don’t believe craftsmanship should remain confined to the past. The most meaningful way to preserve heritage is to reinterpret it for the present.

Our design philosophy begins with studying India’s extraordinary artistic legacy whether that’s Meenakari, architectural detailing, traditional motifs or cultural symbolism and translating those influences into a contemporary design language that feels effortless, relevant and globally appealing.

Rather than recreating heritage, we reinterpret its essence. This allows us to create jewellery that carries the richness of Indian craftsmanship while seamlessly fitting into the lifestyle of the modern woman. Every collection reflects this balance between tradition and innovation. It is rooted in culture but designed for today, allowing craftsmanship to evolve while remaining authentic to its origins.

Q3. What does “affordable luxury” mean to Kicky & Perky in today’s economic climate?

Aditi Khandelwal. We don’t define ourselves through the language of affordable luxury because true luxury is not determined by price alone.

For us, luxury is reflected in thoughtful design, exceptional craftsmanship, material integrity and the emotional connection a person develops with what they wear. Today’s consumers are becoming increasingly intentional. They are investing in fewer, better pieces that hold meaning, last longer and become part of their personal journey.

That philosophy shapes everything we create. Every piece is crafted in hallmarked 925 sterling silver, finished with real rhodium plating and thoughtfully designed using responsibly sourced moissanites alongside precious and semi-precious gemstones. But beyond the materials, our focus is on creating jewellery with enduring relevance rather than seasonal appeal.

Our ambition has always been larger than creating beautiful jewellery. We are building a contemporary Indian jewellery house that celebrates craftsmanship, artistic expression and cultural storytelling while creating collections that can be appreciated by customers in India and around the world.

Q4. How do you ensure the authentic 925 purity standard while maintaining competitive pricing?

Aditi Khandelwal. Trust is the foundation of any jewellery house, and for us, authenticity is never negotiable. Every Kicky & Perky creation is crafted in hallmarked 925 sterling silver, reflecting our commitment to material integrity and uncompromising craftsmanship.

Maintaining this standard isn’t about reducing costs elsewhere it’s about building an efficient and thoughtful design ecosystem. From concept development and material selection to craftsmanship and finishing, every stage is approached with precision to ensure exceptional quality without compromising accessibility.

We believe customers shouldn’t have to choose between beautiful design and authentic materials. Our focus has always been to create jewellery that delivers lasting value through craftsmanship, artistry, and thoughtful design. Ultimately, trust is built not by what a brand claims, but by the consistency of every piece it creates.

Q5. What is the creative story or inspiration behind the unique brand name “Kicky & Perky”?

Aditi Khandelwal. We wanted our name to reflect a personality rather than simply describe a product. “Kicky” represents confidence, individuality, and the courage to express yourself, while “Perky” embodies optimism, creativity, and effortless charm. Together, they capture the spirit of someone who is expressive, curious, and unapologetically authentic.

That philosophy extends far beyond our name it defines how we approach design. At Kicky & Perky, jewellery is never created simply to complement an outfit. Every collection is conceived as a distinct creative world, where craftsmanship, culture, and contemporary design come together to tell a story.

Our ambition has always been to build more than a jewellery brand. We are building a contemporary Indian jewellery house where every creation celebrates artistry, individuality, and timeless design, allowing people to express who they are through pieces that are designed to be collected, cherished, and passed on.

Aditi Khandelwal on the Future of Indian Fine Jewellery

Q6. Men’s silver jewellery is booming; what specific trends are you noticing in men’s styling?

Aditi Khandelwal. One of the most exciting shifts we’re witnessing is that men’s jewellery has evolved from being occasion-led to becoming an integral part of personal style. Today’s consumer views jewellery as a form of self-expression rather than a symbol of status or tradition.

We’re seeing growing interest in sculptural rings, refined chains, signet-inspired silhouettes, statement pendants, and understated bracelets that transition effortlessly between formal and casual wardrobes. Men are becoming more intentional about what they wear, choosing pieces that reflect their personality and individuality.

More importantly, traditional boundaries are beginning to dissolve. Jewellery is increasingly appreciated for its design rather than being confined to conventional categories, creating opportunities to develop collections that are timeless, versatile, and expressive.

Q7. How does your design process change when creating for men versus women?

Aditi Khandelwal. Our design process always begins with the person rather than the category. Before sketching a piece, we think about how it will be experienced, worn, and lived in.

Women’s collections often explore fluid silhouettes, layered compositions, colour, and intricate detailing that encourage personal styling and versatility. Men’s collections tend to focus on architectural forms, restrained proportions, tactile textures, and understated refinement.

That said, contemporary design is becoming increasingly fluid. Many customers choose jewellery because they connect with its design language, regardless of how it is traditionally categorised. As a jewellery house, we find that evolution incredibly exciting because it allows creativity to exist without boundaries.

Q8. Consumer habits shift rapidly; how do you design versatile pieces that outlast fast- fashion trends?

Aditi Khandelwal. We’ve never believed in designing for a season. We design with longevity in mind. Every collection begins with a central creative idea rather than a trend forecast. Once that narrative is established, we explore forms, materials, craftsmanship, and detailing that allow the collection to remain relevant well beyond changing fashion cycles.

Timelessness doesn’t mean simplicity; it means creating pieces with lasting emotional and design value. When jewellery is thoughtfully designed and crafted with integrity, it naturally becomes something people continue reaching for year after year. Our goal is to create contemporary heirlooms pieces that evolve with the person wearing them
rather than with trends.

Q9. What role do festive seasons and gifting culture play in your product development?

Aditi Khandelwal. Jewellery has always marked life’s most meaningful moments, but today those moments extend far beyond traditional celebrations.

While festivals and weddings remain an important part of our design calendar, we’re equally inspired by the growing culture of self-gifting and personal milestones. Consumers are increasingly choosing jewellery to celebrate new beginnings, achievements, travels, or simply moments that hold personal significance.

That shift has encouraged us to design collections that feel emotionally relevant rather than occasion-specific.

Whether received as a gift or chosen for oneself, we want every piece to carry a sense of meaning and become part of someone’s personal story.

Q10. How do you educate your consumers about authentic silver care and long-term maintenance?

Aditi Khandelwal. Education is one of the most important ways we build trust.

We believe customers should understand not only how to care for their jewellery but also the craftsmanship, materials, and design philosophy behind what they are investing in. From proper storage and cleaning to understanding the characteristics of hallmarked 925 sterling silver, we aim to make every customer feel informed and confident in their purchase.

For us, care goes beyond maintenance it reflects respect for craftsmanship. Jewellery that is thoughtfully cared for develops a lasting relationship with its wearer, allowing it to be enjoyed, treasured, and passed down over time.

Ultimately, informed customers make more meaningful choices, and that’s the kind of relationship we strive to build through Kicky & Perky.

Q11. The sterling silver market is highly fragmented; how does your brand stand out?

Aditi Khandelwal. We never set out to build another jewellery brand, we set out to build a contemporary Indian jewellery house with a distinct creative identity.

What differentiates us is that every collection begins with an idea rather than a trend. We approach jewellery the way a curator approaches an exhibition, where each collection explores a unique narrative inspired by culture, art, architecture, nature, or emotion. Every piece contributes to a larger creative language, allowing our collections to feel cohesive, expressive, and timeless.

Alongside this creative philosophy is an uncompromising commitment to craftsmanship. Every design is crafted in hallmarked 925 sterling silver with real rhodium plating, using responsibly sourced moissanites and carefully selected precious and semi-precious gemstones. For us, exceptional design deserves exceptional materials.

Our ambition is not simply to create beautiful jewellery, but to shape a globally relevant Indian jewellery house where craftsmanship, artistic expression, and contemporary design exist in equal measure.

Q12. How do you compete with both traditional fine gold jewellers and inexpensive imitation jewellery brands?

Aditi Khandelwal. The Indian jewellery industry is entering one of its most exciting phases. Consumers today are far more design conscious, informed, and intentional than ever before. They are no longer choosing jewellery based solely on tradition or occasion — they are looking for originality, craftsmanship, authenticity, and personal expression.

I also believe India is uniquely positioned to become one of the world’s most influential design destinations. We possess centuries of craftsmanship, remarkable artistic traditions, and an incredibly rich cultural vocabulary. The opportunity now lies in reinterpreting that heritage through a contemporary lens that resonates globally.

The future belongs to jewellery houses that can successfully balance heritage with innovation, creating collections that are culturally rooted while remaining internationally relevant. That is the direction we are committed to building at Kicky & Perky.

Q13. What is your strategy for tackling the trust deficit in online silver shopping?

Aditi Khandelwal. Trust is never built through marketing alone, it is earned through consistency.

Every interaction a customer has with our jewellery should reinforce the values we stand for, from thoughtful design and authentic materials to craftsmanship, transparency, and after-sales care. We believe trust comes from delivering on every promise we make.

We are equally committed to educating our customers. Understanding hallmarked 925 sterling silver, knowing how jewellery is crafted, and recognising the importance of material integrity empowers customers to make informed decisions rather than emotional purchases alone.

Over time, trust becomes something much deeper than a transaction. It becomes confidence in the house behind the jewellery, and that is the relationship we aspire to build with every customer.

Q14. How do you leverage digital marketing versus physical touchpoints to beat rival brands?

Aditi Khandelwal. Digital platforms are often where customers discover a brand, but physical spaces are where they truly experience it.

Jewellery is deeply tactile and emotional. Seeing how light interacts with a gemstone, feeling the craftsmanship, understanding proportions, and experiencing the details firsthand creates a connection that digital channels cannot fully replicate.

Our retail spaces are designed as an extension of our creative philosophy rather than simply points of sale. We want every customer to experience the world of Kicky & Perky, its collections, craftsmanship, and storytelling, in an environment that feels immersive, personal, and thoughtfully curated.

As we continue expanding our retail presence, our focus is on creating destinations that reflect the identity of a contemporary Indian jewellery house while delivering an elevated customer experience.

Q15. What has been your biggest breakthrough in positioning Kicky & Perky as a premium brand?

Aditi Khandelwal. One of the most meaningful milestones has been seeing Kicky & Perky evolve from an idea into a jewellery house with a distinct creative identity.

Over the past few years, we’ve grown from a digital-first venture into an expanding retail business, built a loyal  community, introduced multiple design-led collections, and represented the brand on global platforms, including the Cannes Film Festival.

Equally significant has been the opportunity to contribute to changing perceptions around contemporary silver jewellery. Our goal has never been to position silver as an alternative to fine jewellery, but to demonstrate that when approached with exceptional design, authentic materials, and uncompromising craftsmanship, it can stand confidently within the broader world of fine jewellery.

For me, the greatest milestone isn’t a single achievement it’s seeing our long-term vision steadily take shape. We are building a jewellery house with the ambition to represent Indian design on a global stage, and every collection, every store, and every customer brings us one step closer to that vision.

Q16. What are your expansion plans regarding offline retail, experiential stores or international markets?

Aditi Khandelwal. Our vision extends far beyond building a successful jewellery business. We are building a contemporary Indian jewellery house with a global perspective, one that is recognised for its creative direction, craftsmanship, and cultural relevance.

Over the next five years, our focus is on expanding our retail presence, strengthening our design language, and introducing collections that continue to push the boundaries of contemporary jewellery. We also envision taking Indian design to international audiences by creating collections that are rooted in our heritage yet universally appreciated.

More than growth, our ambition is to build an enduring institution, one whose creative philosophy continues to inspire generations.

Q17. Are there any upcoming collaboration lines, material experiments or new categories on the horizon?

Aditi Khandelwal. Innovation, for us, begins with ideas rather than products.

Every new collection starts with extensive research into art, culture, architecture, nature, symbolism, and human emotion. Rather than designing around seasonal trends, we develop complete creative narratives that evolve into jewellery.

Customers can expect collections that explore new artistic expressions, distinctive craftsmanship, and refined material combinations while remaining true to our philosophy of timeless design. As we continue to grow, we also aim to collaborate with artists, designers, and creative communities to further expand the dialogue between jewellery and art.

Each collection should feel like discovering a new chapter of the house rather than simply a new launch.

Q18. How is Kicky & Perky integrating sustainable practices into its sourcing and production?

Aditi Khandelwal. We believe the most responsible products are those that remain relevant long after trends have disappeared. By focusing on authentic materials, enduring craftsmanship, and timeless design, we encourage customers to invest in pieces they can wear, treasure, and preserve for years.

Our commitment also extends to responsible sourcing, thoughtful production, and maintaining high standards across our design and manufacturing processes. We see sustainability not as a single initiative but as a long-term philosophy centred around quality, longevity, and conscious creation.

Creating fewer, better pieces has always been at the heart of how we think.

Q19. Where do you see the brand in the next five years regarding market share?

Aditi Khandelwal. Growth should never come at the expense of identity.

As we expand our collections and retail footprint, every decision is measured against the principles that have defined Kicky & Perky from the beginning, design integrity, craftsmanship, material authenticity, and meaningful storytelling.

Whether someone discovers us through our website, walks into one of our stores, or experiences the brand internationally in the future, they should immediately recognise the same creative philosophy and attention to detail.

A jewellery house earns its reputation through consistency, and preserving that consistency will always remain one of our greatest priorities, man-ship and individuality through contemporary design.

Q20. What legacy do you want to build for Kicky & Perky in the global jewellery landscape?

Aditi Khandelwal. I hope Kicky & Perky contributes to a new chapter in how Indian jewellery is perceived around the world.

India has always been home to extraordinary craftsmanship and artistic heritage. My aspiration is to reinterpret that legacy through a contemporary design language that feels relevant to today’s global audience while remaining deeply rooted in our cultural identity.

If, decades from now, Kicky & Perky is recognised not simply as a successful jewellery brand but as an Indian jewellery house that elevated contemporary design, celebrated craftsmanship, and created collections remembered for their artistry, that would be the legacy I would be most proud of.

More than building a business, I hope to build a house whose creations are collected, cherished, and passed down, not only for the materials they are made from, but for the stories they carry and the emotions they evoke.

Editor’s Conclusion

Kicky & Perky Jewellery represents a new generation of Indian luxury brands that value craftsmanship as much as creativity. Under Aditi Khandelwal’s leadership, the brand has embraced a design-first philosophy, where every collection is rooted in storytelling, cultural heritage and enduring elegance.

As consumer preferences continue to shift towards authenticity and meaningful design, Kicky & Perky is well positioned to strengthen its presence both in India and internationally, carrying forward a vision that celebrates artistry, innovation and timeless sophistication.
