Ayesha Jhulka On Holi Plans: I’m Celebrating Holi By Visiting An Old Age Home And Feeding A Feast To The Stray Dogs

For Ayesha Jhulka, Holi is much more than a festival of colors — it’s a time to come together with loved ones, but also an opportunity to give back to those who are less privileged. The celebration for her begins on the eve of Holi with the traditional ritual of Holika Dahan. As she reflects on the significance of the evening, Ayesha Jhulka shares, “On the eve of Holi, we will observe Holika Dahan by lighting up a bonfire and pray.” This sacred moment not only marks the beginning of the festivities but also serves as a time for purification, letting go of negativity, and embracing a fresh start.

This year, the Bollywood actress is taking the spirit of Holi beyond her home and community by extending her celebrations to those in need. Ayesha Jhulka explains, “This year, I’m celebrating Holi by visiting an old age home in Lonavala and feeding a feast to the stray dogs there.” For her, Holi is about inclusivity, making sure that the joy of the festival is shared with everyone—whether they have two legs or four.

No celebration of Holi would feel complete for Ayesha Jhulka without the taste of beloved childhood treats. She fondly remembers the sweets that were always part of the festivities, and this year, she’s bringing those memories to life.

“Holi feels incomplete without the taste of my childhood favorites—I have an emotional connection with Holi sweets, so we will be making my grandma’s special homemade warm gujiyas, Besan and Boondi Laddu, Malpua, Rabri, and crunchy namak pare,” Ayesha Jhulka says with a smile. For her, these traditional sweets are a way to connect with her roots, honor family traditions, and share the joy with those she loves. She adds, “We will cherish the moment and spread joy with my dear friends and family.”

This Holi, it’s clear that she is focused on making the day not only colorful but meaningful, spreading love and kindness to everyone in her life — both human and animal.
