Actor Mohit Malhotra has never been one to dwell on regrets. From Splitsvilla 2 to leading primetime dramas, his career has been built on instinct as much as ambition. In a candid chat, the TV heartthrob opens up about choices, instincts, and the roles that defined his journey.
“I Don’t Look at Any Role as a Mistake Anymore”
“What’s one role you turned down that you feel was a mistake, and one you’re still glad you did?” we ask.
Mohit Malhotra pauses, then smiles. “I don’t really look at any role as a mistake anymore. At the time you make decisions based on the information, instincts, and priorities you have.”
It’s a grounded take from an actor whose résumé spans Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, Sasural Genda Phool, Jamai Raja, Beintehaa among others. Mohit Malhotra also starred in the thriller film Hacked and made waves with reality stints on Splitsvilla 2.
“Of course there have been projects that went on to do really well and you wonder what could have happened if you had been part of them,” Mohit Malhotra admits. “I truly believe that every decision, even the ones that don’t work out, leaves you with an important lesson.”
Mohit Malhotra on Turning Down Roles and Following His Gut
For Mohit Malhotra, the wins aren’t just the roles he took, but the ones he walked away from. “The roles I’m happiest about turning down are the ones that didn’t feel right instinctively. Over time I’ve learnt to trust that feeling. Sometimes saying no is just as important as saying yes.”
That instinct has guided him from early days, to intense turns today. Each yes and no, Mohit Malhotra says, added a layer to his craft.
“Growth isn’t just about the hits. It’s about knowing yourself well enough to choose what aligns with you,” Mohit Malhotra reflects.
