The Indian Armed Forces launched missile strikes on nine terror-linked sites across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK), including key locations in Muridke and Bahawalpur, known strongholds of terror outfits Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. The strikes, executed at 1:44 am, were carried out in direct response to the deadly April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Anantnag district, which claimed 26 lives—25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen.

The Ministry of Defence confirmed the operation in an official statement, stating that the targets hit were “terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed.”

The Ministry of Defence has officially confirmed that the Indian Armed Forces carried out targeted missile strikes on terrorist infrastructure located in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (POJK). The operation specifically focused on sites that have been used to orchestrate cross-border terror attacks against India.

In its statement, the Defence Ministry underscored the strategic nature of the strikes, emphasizing that the operation was “focused, measured, and non-escalatory.” It clarified that no Pakistani military installations were targeted, highlighting India’s restraint and precision in executing the mission.

“This action demonstrates India’s firm resolve to combat terrorism and hold accountable those responsible for the heinous April 22 Pahalgam Terror Attack,” The statement read. The Pahalgam attack had claimed the lives of 26 individuals, including 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali national.

The airstrikes were conducted just hours ahead of a nationwide civil defence drill scheduled across 244 districts, aimed at testing emergency preparedness in the event of a hostile attack.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated the nation’s uncompromising stance on terrorism, vowing to track down the perpetrators and masterminds of the Pahalgam attack “to the ends of the earth” and deliver punishment “beyond their imagination.”
