Shiwani Chakraborty On Aryan’s Exit From Anupamaa: We Miss Ranndeep But…

Actress Shiwani Chakraborty, who plays Mita in the hit show Anupamaa, opens up about the emotional farewell to Aryan’s character and actor Ranndeep R Rai, and why she believes change is crucial to keep storytelling fresh.

Change, though difficult, often becomes necessary—especially in the world of television, where keeping the narrative fresh and engaging is key to holding the audience’s attention. That philosophy recently played out in Anupamaa, as the show witnessed a significant shift in storyline following the emotional departure of Aryan (played by Ranndeep R Rai). His character’s tragic demise due to a drug overdose not only left a lasting impact on viewers but also deeply affected the Kothari family in the show’s storyline, who blame Anupamaa (Rupali Ganguly) for hiding Aryan’s addiction.

This dramatic turn led the show to take a brief leap, relocating Anupamaa to Mumbai, where she is seen adjusting to the fast-paced life of the bustling city. Meanwhile, Raghav (played by Manish Goel) also exited the series, marking another change in the evolving narrative. The Kothari family, still reeling from their loss, is slowly beginning to piece their lives back together.

To get a deeper insight into how the cast feels about these recent shifts, Downtown Mirror Weekly reached out to actress Shiwani Chakraborty, who plays Mita in the show.

Reflecting on Aryan’s departure, Shiwani Chakraborty shared, “Aryan was a vital part of our Kothari family. His story arc has come to a complete close—he’s been shown as dead, not left hanging. Naturally, it feels very sad. No family, even on-screen, is unaffected by such a loss.

Acting together brings people closer, both professionally and personally. Constantly being together on set, chatting between scenes, sharing laughs—that’s what I miss the most. But change is important, and he was mentally prepared for it. We all miss Ranndeep, and beyond being a co-actor, he’s also a good friend. I truly hope his journey ahead is filled with success and happiness.”

While Ranndeep R Rai’s exit from the show happened a week ago, it’s a sweet coincidence that Shiwani Chakraborty is reminiscing about him around the time of his birthday. She didn’t miss the chance to send him warm wishes. She said, “Yes, today is Ranndeep’s birthday, and I want to wish him a very happy birthday from all of us.

May God bless him with all the success he deserves. I hope he continues to land fulfilling and meaningful projects like Anupamaa and keeps soaring high. Above everything else, I just want him to be content and at peace.”

While the loss of a beloved character can sting, actors like Shiwani Chakraborty remind us that evolution—both in storytelling and real life—is the heartbeat of creativity.
