When we saw the first glimpse of Khushi Kapoor and Ibrahim Ali Khan’s Nadaaniyan, everyone was gushing over the latter, because well, he does look absolutely handsome on screen, doesn’t he? And then, we saw some more assets from the film, including the Netflix video that spoofed Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’s iconic ‘Pyaar Kya Hai’ dialogue, and everyone’s been wondering what’s it going to look like.
The trailer of Nadaaniyan is finally out now, and honestly, it’s not got much to give, except that Khushi’s Pia Jai Singh and Ibrahim’s Arjun Mehta have some kind of arrangement where Pia is paying Ibrahim to be his fake boyfriend. While we are shown a glimpse of that coming out in public from him only, what follows is glimpses of romance, drama, meeting the family, and more – and it’s confusing, at best.
But first, watch the trailer here:

Now, we know that Pia and Arjun are from two completely different backgrounds, but interestingly, a middle-class family in such extravagant films doesn’t ever look as middle-class as one would have thought, and the classic trope follows Pia, the one where she’s a South Delhi diva looking for love, because well, her family is complicated.

Truth be told, you just know the basic story, but you still don’t know the hows and whats, and that’s how a trailer should work, but somehow, as for Nadaaniyan, the trailer is as interesting as it isn’t, because while I’d love to know ki ‘chal kya raha hai’, there’s a lot about the movie that seems like a putt off – the weird voices, the over exaggeration, among other things.
Nonetheless, by the end of it, you know that while playing pretend, they actually end up falling in love, which means that either Pia will have to face more drama at home or Arjun’s overachieving career will take a hit, and sadly, both these things happen in parts, meaning that you’d want to know where things go from there.
All in all, Nadaaniyan looks like that Gen Z film that you want to watch just to see whether it is actually as interesting, but also wonder if you should watch it or not, because hello, some of us are just too old for this stuff!
