Anupamaa Actress Shiwani Chakraborty: Playing The Quintessential TV Bahu Is An Incredibly Fascinating Experience

Shiwani Chakraborty, known for her role in Anupamaa, shares that playing the quintessential bahu in a TV show has been a captivating experience. For many actors, the chance to portray a traditional daughter-in-law, adorned in beautiful saris and heavy jewelry, is a dream come true. Shiwani Chakraborty is living that dream with her character, Meeta Kothari, in Rajan Shahi’s Anupamaa.

Shiwani Chakraborty says, “Playing the quintessential TV bahu is an incredibly fascinating experience! The grace and grandeur of the saris, along with the exquisite jewelry, bring so much authenticity to Meeta’s character. It’s almost as if her attire is an extension of her personality — strong, ambitious, and deeply rooted in tradition, yet modern in her outlook. The costumes and accessories help me step into Meeta’s shoes so effortlessly. They contribute to her presence, allowing her to carry herself with elegance and an underlying intensity. Transforming into Meeta every day is enjoyable because her look is so carefully crafted. It enhances the charm and impact of the character, making her portrayal all the more captivating.”

When asked about the most rewarding aspect of playing Meeta Kothari, Shiwani Chakraborty shares, “The most rewarding part is the complexity of Meeta’s character. She’s not one-dimensional — she comes from an affluent background and has strong beliefs about her husband’s rightful place in the family. She is ambitious, even verging on greed, but her motives stem from a desire to elevate her family’s position. This layered persona makes her a thrilling character to play. As the show progresses, viewers will witness the different facets of Meeta and how her ambitions and desires shape her actions.”

Shiwani Chakraborty adds, “Being part of a show that resonates emotionally with the audience is a privilege. It’s more than just a story; it’s a journey. I’m fortunate to be part of a prestigious production house like DKP, working under the guidance of Rajan Sir. It’s truly an honor to be part of something so meaningful and beloved.”
