“One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that acting is not just about delivering lines; it’s about living and breathing the character. Voice acting taught me the art of expression, but on-screen acting demanded an entirely new set of skills — such as mastering body language, perfecting facial expressions, and establishing a profound emotional connection with the character. As I’ve grown in this profession, I’ve learned the value of keen observation — studying people, their emotions, and the small, often unnoticed details that make a performance feel real. With every project, I’ve evolved — be it in my facial expressions, voice modulation, or in my ability to add depth to my roles. The journey has been one of continuous growth, with each experience enhancing my understanding of the craft.”
Reflecting on her journey into acting, Simaran Kaur recalls, “Acting has always been my passion. As a child, I was fascinated by the power of storytelling and the way actors could bring emotions to life through their craft. I began my professional career at the age of 12, voicing Nobita in Doraemon. That experience of voice acting for over a decade allowed me to master the art of expression and performance, which only deepened my love for acting.”
For her, a defining moment in her career came in 2017, marking a pivotal shift from voice acting to on-screen roles. Simaran Kaur says, “The year 2017 was a game-changer for me, when I landed my first leading role as Srishti in the TV show Agnifera. That role earned me significant recognition and was a key turning point in my transition from voice artist to a full-fledged actor. The appreciation I received from both the audience and industry professionals gave me the confidence that I was on the right path. It was a validation that all the hard work and perseverance had paid off.”
Simaran Kaur also speaks candidly about the unpredictable nature of the entertainment industry, emphasizing the importance of having a backup plan. She says, “The entertainment world can be unpredictable, and it’s always wise to have an alternate skill set for stability. While passion and dedication to acting are essential, exploring other interests that complement your career can be beneficial. Some actors branch out into direction, writing, or production, while others invest in businesses or social initiatives. For me, voice acting has always been an important skill that I can rely on, no matter where my acting career takes me. Having multiple avenues ensures stability and expands creative possibilities.”
