Reflecting on how the portrayal of Parsis has evolved over time, the actress, who is currently seen in Mannat – Har Khushi Paane Ki, expressed her gratitude for the progress made in authentic representation. Delnaaz Irani shared, “Earlier, Parsis in films were often shown as caricatures — always in a white Dugli, which is actually worn only for weddings or Navjote ceremonies. Similarly, women were often depicted wearing Garas, which isn’t practical for daily life. Parsis were usually included in movies just for comic relief, which was not an accurate reflection of our culture. Additionally, the exaggerated Parsi accent used in films was a stereotype that didn’t resonate with how we actually speak.”
The actress highlighted how things have drastically improved in recent years. “I am glad things are changing,” she said, emphasizing the shift towards more nuanced portrayals.

Delnaaz Irani is particularly pleased that today’s films and shows are moving away from the exaggerated caricatures of the past, focusing instead on presenting a more authentic image of Parsis. With the entertainment industry evolving and embracing more accurate portrayals, she believes the future holds exciting prospects for both the representation of her community and the variety of roles available to actors like herself.
