Saanand Verma: As Long As An Actor Is Content With Their Medium, The Screen Size Shouldn’t Matter

Actor Saanand Verma who plays the role of Anokhe Lal Saxena in Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai!, says he has always received immense love for his performances. He adds that, for him, being satisfied with his career matters more than the medium.

Saanand Verma says, “Seeing oneself on the big screen is a dream for many, but not everyone gets the opportunity. However, our ultimate goal is to entertain audiences, and if we can do that through television, then I don’t think actors feel frustrated. As long as one is happy with their medium, the size of the screen doesn’t matter. I am grateful to my fans for their love for Saxena Ji. I even have some of my fans’ numbers saved with ‘blessers’ written next to their names.”

Saanand Verma adds, “I really want to thank my fans for their love and support of my fans. When there are so many fans, it gives me a true feeling of success, and I will always cherish them. Only when actors have fans can they truly feel successful — money doesn’t define an actor’s success.”

Every actor craves variety in their career. Talking about a role he still wants to play, Saanand Verma says, “I want to portray a ruthless villain with some comic elements in a big project alongside big stars.”

On getting to play the same kind of role repeatedly, Saanand Verma says, “If an actor becomes a hit in one genre, typecasting happens naturally. Only a few directors experiment with casting. For example, Madhur Bhandarkar gave me a serious role in the film India Lockdown, which was different from my usual characters. As long as actors bring freshness to their roles, being typecast doesn’t matter. Audience preferences dictate everything. I have done a variety of roles, including serious ones. Ultimately, if audiences appreciate it, the repeat factor doesn’t matter.”

Saanand Verma further explains, “If I get to play a policeman in 10 different projects, I will definitely bring something new each time because not every policeman is the same. Every officer behaves differently and has a different background — some are peace-loving, some are lazy, some use foul language. I don’t believe in being typecast. An actor can always bring freshness to their characters.”
