Kanwar Dhillon shares his heartfelt response to the tragic Ahmedabad plane crash, reflecting on the fragility of life and the importance of living in the present.
In an emotional conversation, he urges people to cherish loved ones and find balance amid life’s uncertainties.
The tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad has left the entire nation shaken. In a matter of seconds, countless lives were lost—lives filled with dreams, plans, and loved ones waiting at the other end. As visuals from the incident began circulating online, they painted a harrowing picture of the chaos, heartbreak, and irreversible loss.
Actor Kanwar Dhillon, currently seen as the male lead in Rahul Tewary’s Udne Ki Aasha, was, like many of us, deeply affected by the news. Speaking with a heavy heart, he shared his emotional response to the devastating tragedy.
He says, “I was shocked when the news came out, followed by several visuals of the unfortunate incident. All of that was scary. Every person on that flight had plans for the next day. They must have left their homes and boarded the flight with certain aspirations and dreams with their families and loved ones. It was extremely disturbing to see the visuals that came out of the hostel with the condition in which the bodies were retrieved and the entire chaos that followed. My heart went out to each and every person on that flight and I really feel sad for their families.”
Kanwar Dhillon’s words reflect the shared sorrow of a nation mourning lives lost too soon. In moments like these, we’re all reminded—sometimes harshly—of life’s unpredictability. These events force us to confront the uncomfortable truth about our own mortality and the uncertainty that shadows every tomorrow.
“Yes, absolutely,” Kanwar Dhillon says, reflecting on the fragility of life, “such unfortunate incidents and also so many other things we see around us in our daily lives—when our known ones and loved ones have have suffered untimely deaths—and tragedies as cruel as this recent plane crash… it really teaches us to value life each day and live each day to the fullest as it comes because you never know how your next day or how tomorrow is going to be around you.
So, life should be lived to the fullest, especially with your family and loved ones. It just makes you value your space even more. Having said that, none of us can imagine what the families of each and every passenger who passed away in the crash are going through right now. The footage shared online and the visible anguish of the families paint a gut-wrenching picture of loss that’s difficult to put into words.”
The overwhelming grief of the victims’ families is beyond comprehension. Yet, this tragedy also brings into focus the choices we make every day—how we spend our time, where we place our priorities, and whether we’re truly present in our lives. In today’s relentless pace, balancing ambition and presence becomes a challenge.
When asked about the paradox of chasing the future while trying to live in the present, Kanwar Dhillon opened up honestly about his perspective. He says, “Living in the present is something I personally believe in. I take each day as it comes. Having said that, we all have a lot of things to do in our lives—securing the future.
As far as working in the present, focusing on your career and worrying about the future is concerned—that comes from a space of insecurity, being content and secure enough to build a stable future, to save for a life of dignity and comfort, to provide for your family, and so many other reasons.
I think that drive is also really important to keep going. It’s important to stay grounded in the present moment and not lose sight of today. You also need to slog in the present for a beautiful future. It has to go hand in hand. But each day has to be lived to its fullest. If you can manage that beautifully, you are sorted and good to go.”
Kanwar Dhillon’s thoughts are a timely reminder for all of us. Amid the heartbreak of real-life tragedies, we’re urged to slow down, to connect, and to be mindful—not only of how we live, but why we live the way we do. The road ahead will always demand our attention, but it’s the moments we embrace today that truly define the richness of our lives.
