Actor Ayush Sanjeev confirmed the news and shared his thoughts on the show’s unexpected wrap-up and the evolving landscape of Hindi television.
After a successful run, Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin is set to bid farewell in the first week of July, following a time slot change to 6:30 PM. The family drama, which has seen multiple cast changes in its long journey, brought Bhavika Sharma back as Savi last month, after Vaibhavi Hankare’s short stint ended just over three months after her January debut. When we reached out to Bhavika, she mentioned she hadn’t received any official confirmation about the show going off-air.
However, Downtown Mirror Weekly spoke to actor Ayush Sanjeev, who won over audiences with his portrayal of Maruti in the show, and he confirmed the development.

“It’s really sad that the show is ending—especially for those who’ve been part of it for years,” Ayush Sanjeev said, adding, “When you spend over 12 hours a day working together on a TV set, your co-workers become like family. I suppose I’m somewhat fortunate, though not in a great way, because I joined recently. So, the emotional attachment isn’t as deep for me compared to the rest of the cast. That said, it’s still a tough goodbye. I had just started making new friends, and now it’s wrapping up. Honestly, the news hasn’t quite sunk in yet.”
Speaking about the timeline, Ayush Sanjeev added, “We’re still not sure about the final shoot date since the ending is being written. So, I don’t know exactly when or how it will conclude.”
Ayush Sanjeev admitted he hadn’t expected his stint on the show to be so brief. “I didn’t imagine it would end this soon,” he said, adding, “I thought my character, Maruti, would have a run of at least three months, given how it was introduced and developed. It had layers, a proper graph. I was really enjoying playing the part.”
Reflecting on the volatility in Hindi television today, Ayush Sanjeev pointed to evolving viewer preferences and the rise of alternative entertainment. “I think this shift is largely due to the changing habits of the younger generation, who prefer watching content in shorter formats like reels,” he explained.
Ayush Sanjeev further added, “It’s becoming more predictable now, and we have to adapt. Even then, Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin running for over 1600 episodes is a huge achievement. Audiences today want variety, and the competition—especially from OTT platforms—is intense. There’s a need for stories to be sharp and fast-paced. We’ve definitely entered a new era of storytelling.”
