Anupama Solanki: It’s Our Duty To Protect Those Who Can’t Speak For Themselves

Ahead of International Dog Day, Anupama Solanki emphasises the urgent need for stronger laws and dedicated safe zones to protect stray animals.

She calls for increased compassion, awareness, and collaborative efforts to foster a safer, kinder environment for all creatures.

With International Dog Day just around the corner, actress Anupama Solanki shares her heartfelt views on the importance of protecting stray animals and creating a safer environment for them.

As a passionate animal lover, she highlights the urgent need for stronger laws, awareness, and compassionate care to ensure the well-being of dogs and other vulnerable creatures across India. Anupama Solanki says, “I love dogs, cats, and cows, and I feel we need strict laws for all animals. But let’s start with dogs and gradually work towards protecting others too.”

Anupama Solanki expresses her support for the government’s recent steps in shifting stray dogs to shelters, which she believes will secure their future. She adds, “The shelter system is a good move. It provides safety, food, and care that animals hardly get on the streets.”

However, she also stresses the need for innovative solutions. Suggesting a unique idea, she says,

“I feel the government should create zones like a zoo, where stray dogs, cats, or other pets can live safely. Every day, so many dogs die in road accidents, and sometimes humans also lose their lives while trying to protect them. I personally witnessed a horrific accident last year when a stray dog suddenly jumped in front of my cab on the highway. The dog was badly injured, and our car shook violently. It was a very scary moment.”

For Anupama Solanki, such incidents prove the urgency of dedicated safe zones for stray animals. She believes this would not only protect them from accidents but also reduce conflicts between animals and humans.

Talking about awareness, she highlighted the lack of sensitivity in society.

“Animals hardly get proper food, and many times, children throw stones at them. Slowly, this mistreatment makes animals aggressive. We are not trained on how to love and care for dogs or other pets. We need more awareness campaigns and education to teach compassion,” Anupama Solanki explains.
