Shikha Singh opens up about playing the bold and unpredictable Sakshi Mittal in Jagadhatri and why provoking strong audience reactions is an actor’s true achievement.
With Jagadhatri continuing to stand out for its women-centric narrative and unconventional storytelling, Shikha Singh is making a strong impact with her portrayal of Sakshi Mittal, a character that is bold, layered, and deliberately unpredictable. Known for bringing depth and conviction to her roles, the actor steps into Sakshi’s world with an intent to challenge perceptions and keep viewers guessing.
Talking about what drew her to the character, Shikha says Sakshi’s ability to influence the story in unexpected ways was the biggest hook. “What excites me the most is Sakshi’s ability to influence the storyline in unexpected ways,” she shares, adding that such characters constantly push an actor to explore new shades.
Acknowledging that Sakshi is not meant to be a universally liked character, Shikha believes provoking strong audience reactions is a sign of success. “If people feel strongly about the character, whether love or dislike, it means you’ve done your job,” she says with a smile, calling it the biggest compliment an actor can receive.
While Jagadhatri already enjoys a solid and loyal viewership, Shikha feels it’s still too early to define the long-term impact of Sakshi Mittal. Highlighting the show’s distinct positioning, she notes, “Jagadhatri has its own identity for being different and women-centric. I’ve always been fortunate that audiences have loved the characters I’ve played, and I’m hoping they extend the same warmth to Sakshi as well.”

Expressing gratitude for the continued love she receives from viewers, Shikha shares that it reinforces her belief in meaningful storytelling. “The warmth and love I continue to receive reassures me that honest performances always find their way into people’s hearts,” she says.
She also credits producer Rahul Kumar Tewary and his team for creating a comfortable and familiar work environment, making the journey even more rewarding. “Working with Rahul and his team feels extremely comforting, the set environment is supportive and welcoming,” she adds, noting that such spaces allow actors to focus fully on their craft.
