Krish Khatri, who is a stylist and costume designer, has styled celebrities like Manoj Bajpayee and, very recently, Gaurav Khanna for his stint in Bigg Boss 19. For him, fashion is about creating stories through clothes.
He said, “Fashion was always more than clothing for me; it was a way of storytelling. I was fascinated by how what someone wears can communicate power, vulnerability, culture, or rebellion without saying a word.
His professional journey began in Dubai, where he pursued his master’s in fashion. Krish Khatri added, “Then I went on to work as a fashion buyer and stylist for over 12 years. That exposure to global brands, diverse markets, and international fashion sensibilities laid a strong foundation for my transition into styling and costume design for films and artists.”

“Clear communication is key. I listen carefully, present mood boards and references, and remain flexible. When creativity aligns with the director’s narrative intent, the result is always stronger than any individual idea,”
To create a look for a celebrity, he starts by understanding the person or character deeply. Krish Khatri said, “Like their personality, backstory, lifestyle, and emotional arc. A signature look should feel organic, not forced. I focus on consistency in silhouettes, textures, and color palettes while allowing room for evolution.”
“The goal is for the look to feel so authentic that it becomes inseparable from the person or character,” Krish Khatri added.
Krish Khatri admitted that projects like The Family Man were challenging because the characters needed to look extremely real and relatable while still being visually impactful. He said, “The challenge was subtlety. I overcame it through intense research, observing real people, and collaborating closely with the director and actors. Sometimes doing less is the hardest and most effective choice.”
He mentioned that his job is to enhance the client’s or director’s vision, but not override it. “Clear communication is key. I listen carefully, present mood boards and references, and remain flexible. When creativity aligns with the director’s narrative intent, the result is always stronger than any individual idea,” Krish Khatri ended.
