I’ve Consciously Worked On Overthinking and Giving Too Much Importance To Other People’s Opinions: Sherleen Dutt On Overcoming Her Weakness | EXCLUSIVE

Sherleen Dutt: “I Choose My Peace Over People’s Validation”

Sherleen Dutt on Overcoming Self-Doubt, Overthinking and Other People’s Opinions

Dussehra reminds us that victory is not always about defeating evil outside us. Sometimes, it is about overcoming our own fears, doubts, and insecurities.

As the country gears up to celebrate Dussehra, actress Sherleen Dutt, currently seen in Beinteha Season 2, she shares how personal growth has changed the way she sees herself and deals with life’s challenges.

Talking about herself and what she has tried to overcome, she said, I think one thing I’ve consciously worked on is overthinking and giving too much importance to other people’s opinions.

Earlier, I would question myself a lot, but with time I’ve realised that not everyone needs to understand your choices.

Dussehra 2026: Why Sherleen Dutt Believes the Biggest Raavan Is Within Us

And I genuinely believe that sometimes the biggest Raavan we need to defeat is our own self-doubt. I’m still learning, but today I choose my peace over people’s validation.

For her, coming from Jammu and building a career in the entertainment industry has been a journey of learning, rejection, patience, and self-discovery.

Sherleen Dutt said, In this industry, talent alone doesn’t guarantee opportunities, and sometimes you give your best but things still don’t work out. Earlier, I used to take setbacks personally.

Today, I’ve learned that rejection is often redirection. One thing I strongly believe is that your circumstances may delay your dreams, but they should never decide how big you’re allowed to dream.

Sherleen Dutt believes people are losing empathy towards others. For her, kindness and respect must go beyond words and celebrations.

She believes that real change begins when we practice these values in our everyday lives, especially in the way we treat women.

Sherleen Dutt said, I feel we’re becoming a generation that’s extremely vocal about kindness but sometimes forgets to practice it.

We celebrate the victory of good over evil, we worship goddesses, and we talk about respecting women, but what happens to those values in our everyday lives?

For me, a society isn’t progressive because of how grandly it celebrates its festivals, but because of how it treats its people, especially its women, when the celebrations are over.

That’s the kind of change I would genuinely love to see.

In fact, one of her characters has changed her perspective on human behaviour.

Playing Mansi in Beintehaa Season 2: Lessons in Human Psychology

Sherleen Dutt said, Playing characters like Mansi, who have negative shades, has made me realize that human behavior is rarely just black or white.

What’s interesting is that most people don’t actually see themselves as the villain in their own story. They find ways to justify their actions, even when those actions hurt others.

As an actor, you have to understand that psychology without necessarily agreeing with it.

And personally, it’s taught me something important: understanding why someone behaves badly doesn’t mean you have to excuse their behavior.

Sherleen Dutt maintains that success should change one’s opportunities, not their character.

Sherleen Dutt said, I’ve always believed in maintaining my boundaries, whether it’s the kind of work I choose, the people I surround myself with, or how I allow others to treat me.

Coming from a grounded upbringing, I know how much hard work goes into building something of your own. I want to be successful, absolutely, but never at the cost of my self-respect.

I would rather lose an opportunity than lose myself trying to fit into it.

When asked to talk about the biggest battle she has won, she said, I would say the battle against self-doubt and other people’s limitations.

When you’re a girl with big dreams, especially coming from a relatively conservative background, there are so many expectations about what you should do, how you should live, and how far you should dream.

My biggest victory has been learning to trust myself and create my own identity without losing my roots.

And I wouldn’t say I’ve won every battle yet, because I’m still growing.

But the girl who once questioned whether she could do it has become a woman who knows she will find a way.

And for me, that’s a victory worth celebrating, Sherleen Dutt ended.
