Holi 2026: Shivangi Verma on Holika Dahan, Organic Colors & Childhood Memories
For actress Shivangi Verma who is known for her performance in shows like Tera Ishq Mera Fitoor and Choti Sarrdaarni and web series like Yeh Hai Sanak and Hasratein 3, Holi is much more than just a festival of colors — it is a reminder of emotions, faith, and togetherness.
Speaking about what the festival truly symbolises, Shivangi Verma says,
“Holi is not just about putting colors on each other. It symbolizes the victory of good over evil, positivity over negativity, and love over hatred. For me, it is about forgiving people, letting go of grudges, and starting fresh.”
From Traditional Rituals to Modern Celebrations: How Shivangi Verma Celebrates Holi
Talking about her way of celebrating, Shivangi Verma adds, “Earlier, Holi used to be very traditional at home. We would do proper rituals, apply gulal to elders’ feet, take blessings, and then enjoy sweets. Now, of course, celebrations have become more modern with DJ parties and theme events. But I still like keeping the traditional touch alive.” She says that over the years, the vibe has become more glamorous, but the emotions remain the same.

Explaining the significance of Holika Dahan, Shivangi Verma says, “Holika Dahan is very powerful spiritually. It reminds us that no matter how strong negativity looks, truth always wins in the end. We pray around the fire and ask for all the negativity in our lives to burn away.”
When it comes to playing with colors, Shivangi Verma smiles and says, “I prefer dry colors, especially gulal. Water balloons can sometimes hurt and waste a lot of water. Gulal feels safer, more festive, and also looks beautiful in pictures.”
Sharing her favorite childhood memory, Shivangi Verma adds warmly, “As kids, we would start playing Holi from early morning. I remember running around the society with my friends, completely drenched in colors, and then coming home tired but happy. Those innocent days were the best.”
On celebrating responsibly, Shivangi Verma says, “We should always choose organic colors, avoid wasting water, and respect people’s boundaries. Holi should be about happiness, not force. If we celebrate mindfully, the festival becomes even more beautiful.”
