Pregnant Woman Found Dead Inside Faridabad Home
A shocking incident has emerged from Haryana’s Faridabad, where a 23-year-old pregnant woman was allegedly murdered by her husband inside their residence in Panchsheel Colony Part-II.
According to police, the victim, identified as Neha Kumari, was six months pregnant. Her husband, Amit Gupta, 26, is accused of assaulting her before allegedly forcing her head into a bucket filled with water, leading to her death. Police said the accused fled immediately after the incident and has remained untraceable.
Police Probe Suggests Domestic Dispute Led to the Alleged Murder
Investigators said preliminary findings indicate that Amit Gupta allegedly suspected his wife of being involved in an extramarital relationship. According to police, this reportedly led to repeated arguments between the couple in recent weeks.
Officials also stated that Gupta had reportedly stopped attending work regularly and allegedly prevented Neha from leaving the house. Family members and neighbours told investigators they heard a heated argument shortly before the alleged murder.
Police claim the accused first assaulted Neha and attempted to strangle her before allegedly drowning her by holding her head underwater in a bucket.
Alleged Confession to Relative Helped Police Reach the Scene
According to investigators, the accused allegedly called his uncle soon after the incident and informed him about the killing, asking him to handle the legal consequences.
Instead of assisting him, the relative immediately informed the police and alerted both families. When relatives reached the house, they reportedly found Neha lying motionless on the floor with visible injury marks.
Family members said that Neha was excited about becoming a mother and said she often spoke about her plans for the baby.
Forensic Team Collects Evidence
Police recovered a bucket and a scarf from the crime scene as part of the investigation.
Investigators observed water on the floor, the victim’s upper body soaked, and marks on her neck that were consistent with strangulation. Officials said forensic experts have indicated drowning as the probable cause of death, though the exact cause will be confirmed after the post-mortem examination.
Murder Case to Be Registered Under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
Police said they are awaiting a formal complaint from the victim’s family before registering a First Information Report under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to murder.
Authorities have formed multiple teams to locate and arrest the accused, whose mobile phone has reportedly been switched off since the incident.
Investigation Continues
The investigation remains ongoing, and police are examining forensic evidence, witness statements, and electronic records to establish the sequence of events.
Officials have urged anyone with information about the accused’s whereabouts to contact local law enforcement.
