Karan Johar Talks About Criticism Around ‘Nadaaniyan’, Highlights His Problem With Critics

We all know that ‘Nadaaniyan’ on Netflix wasn’t the best film and it was trolled brutally for poor performances, storylines and failing to be a Gen Z pick. It marked Ibrahim Ali Khan’s debut ft. Karan Johar, however, everything about the movie turned out to be a miss. And producer Karan Johar, in fact, seemed to have a lot to say about the criticism ‘Nadaaniyan’ received.

At an event for the upcoming film, ‘Akaal’, Karan Johar responded to a question about ‘Nadaaniyan’ and Khushi and Ibrahim being trolled and quoted a dialogue ‘kuch toh log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna, chodo bekaar ki baatein, beet na jaaye raina’.

Well, interestingly, this was at a media event where he said it, and probably the same people may have trolled the movie, but well, who is pointing that out, isn’t it?

Further, about harsh reviews and critics as well as trolls, he said how his relationship with critics never changes as per the reviews as it is their work and he doesn’t have any theories as to how someone may be doing it purposely. He also said how sometimes, trolls do these things but they don’t have a name and are poor souls who are just venting their problems and he only pities them.

Karan Johar also highlighted how he genuinely respects critics but when someone reads a certain thing, you tend to think how they are also someone’s daughter and son and their parents will be reading those things. Pointing out how someone wrote ‘I want to kick this film’, Karan said that he has a problem with people who write things like that.

Being at his playful best, he said, “Aapke raye hai, hum accept karte hain, humari bhi Nadaaniyan hai, kuch Gustakhiyan hain toh kabhi Gehraiyaan hain.”

As for ‘Nadaaniyan’, is a teen romantic comedy directed by Shauna Gautam, who also marked her directorial debut. The movie released on Netflix on March 7 and opened up to rather bad reviews. It continues to be in the news time and again!
