Raksha Bandhan Special: Roma Navani on Sibling Bond, Family & Always Being There
For actress Roma Navani, known for shows like Hum Paanch, Ishq Mein Ghayal, and Pyaar Ka Pehla Naam Radha Mohan, the bond with her siblings is built on quiet, constant presence, the kind that shows up in silly fights and shared history alike.
She opened up about what instantly lifts her spirits, the sibling squabbles she still looks back on with a laugh, and the lessons that bond has taught her over the years.
Roma Navani said, Just being there for me, checking on me, or making me laugh when I’m feeling low. Sometimes I don’t even need advice, I just need to know my sibling is there.
Their fights, she recalled, were never short of dramatic in the moment, even if they seem funny in hindsight. Roma Navani said
We’ve had so many silly fights, dirty fights, stupid fights over the years.
But what I remember most is how seriously we would fight at the time, and then somehow end up laughing about it later.
Asked if there’s a quality she secretly wishes she had, she pointed to her elder sister’s composure.
Roma Navani said, I think among my siblings, it’s me and my elder sister Sandhya who has the ability to handle certain situations more calmly and efficiently than the rest of my siblings.
Growing up, Roma believes, has quietly deepened her understanding of family, even without the need for constant explanations.
Roma Navani said, When we were younger, we probably took each other for granted and were more involved in our own lives.
As we’ve grown older, I’ve realised how important family really is. There’s a deeper understanding now, you don’t always need to explain everything because there’s so much history between you.
That same closeness, she said, is why she can be completely unguarded with her siblings.
Roma Navani said, I can tell my sibling my deepest fears, insecurities and even the things I’m embarrassed to say out loud to other people.
I know they’ve seen every version of me, and I don’t have to pretend to be strong all the time.
And if there’s one thing her siblings have taught her without even realising it, it’s the value of showing up.
That life changes, people change, and circumstances change, but family and the bond you share are things you should never take for granted.
My sibling has taught me, without even saying it, that sometimes you just have to be there for each other, Roma Navani ended.
