Anjali Phougat Shares Her Perspective on Loneliness
In a recent survey, India ranked as the second loneliest country in the world. Indian-origin US-based designer Anjali Phougat believes loneliness doesn’t come from fewer relationships but from less meaningful ones.
Anjali Phougat said, “It doesn’t happen often, but I have learned that sometimes the most meaningful conversation begins when we become that person for someone else.”
“I don’t believe loneliness comes from having fewer relationships. I believe it comes from having fewer meaningful conversations where we feel truly seen, heard, and accepted without judgment,” Anjali Phougat added.
She stressed that while social media has made people more visible, it has not made them as connected as they should have been. Anjali Phougat added, “We know what people post, but we often don’t know what they are silently carrying.”
‘Finding Your People Is Harder Than Finding People,’ Says Anjali Phougat
On what feels harder today, finding people or finding your people, Anjali Phougat said, “Finding people has never been easier. Finding your people, the ones who celebrate your joy, hold your hand through pain, and love you without conditions, is much harder.”
“Someone can have thousands of followers, hundreds of contacts, and still feel completely alone. Numbers can never replace genuine human connection,” Anjali Phougat added.
Anjali also mentioned that she might message many people today, but when life becomes difficult, only a few are the ones she truly wants to talk to. Anjali Phougat added, “Those few are life’s greatest blessings.”
She further said, “Instant messages have made communication faster, but not necessarily deeper. Nothing replaces a conversation where someone listens with their heart instead of waiting for their turn to speak.”
Anjali Phougat’s Message on Kindness, Presence, and Emotional Well-Being
Asked what message she wishes someone would send her today, Anjali Phougat said, “If I could receive one message today, it would simply say, ‘How is your heart? I’m here. Take your time.’ I want to hear the real answer.”
“In a world that is becoming louder every day, kindness, presence, and genuine conversations may be the greatest gifts we can offer one another,” Anjali Phougat ended.
