As Bigg Boss 19 reaches its grand finale tonight, actress Hunar Hale shares her candid take on finalist Gaurav Khanna’s journey.
While he has made it to the Top 5, she believes his run felt unusually calm and almost too controlled for a high-pressure reality show.

With the Bigg Boss 19 finale just hours away, finalist Gaurav Khanna remains one of the most debated contestants of the season. Despite securing a spot in the Top 5, many viewers and industry voices felt he held back, played too safe, or was overly conscious of his long-standing public image. Yet, he has managed to withstand eliminations week after week, proving that his composed, measured presence has its own audience, one that values dignity over drama.

Actress Hunar Hale, who has been an active commentator throughout the season, reflects on this contrast. She acknowledges that while some viewers felt Gaurav didn’t tap into his full competitive potential, his calm persona, though surprising, may have been his natural way of surviving the house.
Speaking about whether she enjoyed watching the show this year, Hunar offers a sharp perspective.
“Bigg Boss is always entertaining, but this season at times felt less like a competition and more like a launchpad for a pre-decided winner,” she says, adding, “Jahaan kuch logon ki journey natural thi… aur kuch contestants ka graph itna perfectly ‘set’ lag raha tha ki kabhi-kabhi reality show kam, unki television pe nibhaye kirdaar ki image-building workshop zyada lag rahi thi.”
Her insight into Gaurav’s behaviour in the house comes from personal experience.
“I’ve worked with Gaurav Khanna back in 2008, so naturally I was excited to see him shine in the Bigg Boss house like he always shines on set,” she notes, adding, “But inside the house, he looked almost too carefree… jis confidence se woh bol raha tha ki ‘do–teen chaar hafte aur hai, aage bahut time hai dikhane ke liye’, that level of comfort I have never seen in any previous popular contestant.”
Hunar shares that his lack of fear stood out. She says, “Others with huge followings appeared tense about eliminations, and several still got voted out. Yet Gaurav carried no fear from the very beginning. At times it felt less like he was inside the Bigg Boss house and more like he was living in a yoga retreat.”
As the finale airs tonight, the big question remains: will Gaurav Khanna’s steady, image-conscious approach work in his favour, or will the trophy go to a more explosive, emotionally raw contender? The audience will decide in just a few hours.
