Yesha Harsora Reacts to the Himachal Pradesh Tragedy

Yesha Harsora says, ”I’ve said this earlier as well, and I’ll say it again — people have become way too obsessed with Instagram content. There’s this constant urge to shoot something all the time, everywhere. Sometimes it’s okay, but one really needs to be mindful of the space and surroundings they are in. You must understand the place you’re at and act accordingly. Shooting in such extreme snowy conditions was clearly a huge risk.

At times, it’s more important to just be in the moment rather than filming and showing everything to everyone.”

With social media increasingly shaping aspirations, especially among young minds, do you think children and teenagers today are under pressure to “perform” online before they are mature enough to understand consequences? Yesha Harsora shares,”Everything today has become too online focused.

Social media plays a very important role in people’s lives, but one needs to categorise whether it’s actually important at that moment or not. Kids especially are under immense pressure to perform online even before they understand the real world.

They’re not emotionally mature enough to deal with consequences, yet this has become their biggest concern, which is honestly worrying.”

In the same incident, their pet dog reportedly stayed with the bodies for four days, displaying a level of loyalty that left many speechless. This moment tell us about empathy, emotional connection, and what truly matters beyond digital approval. On this Yesha Harsora says,” That moment says everything.

What truly matters is human connection — the emotions, empathy, sympathy, and love you feel when you’re physically present with people. You won’t find that online. You need to live in the moment, appreciate what’s around you, and be grateful for life.” Yesha Harsora also adds,” I’m not saying capturing memories isn’t important — of course it is — but not when your life is at risk.

Sometimes living the moment is far more meaningful than recording it.”

The Need for Responsibility and Digital Awareness Among Youth

Yesha Harsora also shares about the responsibility of the platforms. She says,”I do believe platforms should be held accountable to a certain extent. But at the same time, humans aren’t foolish — people do know what they’re doing. I also feel parents have a responsibility to guide and train children better.

These days, kids are behaving very recklessly when it comes to content creation — hanging out of trains, filming while scuba diving, paragliding, and many other dangerous activities. Of course you can capture these moments, but never at the cost of your life. No reel or content is that important.”
