Nisha Rawal is an Indian actress, model, singer, and entrepreneur born in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She began her entertainment career with commercials for brands like Sunsilk, Coca-Cola, and Fem Bleach and also appeared in music videos, including Sonu Nigam’s Chanda Ki Doli.
In 2008, Rawal made her Bollywood debut with Rafoo Chakkar and Hastey Hastey. She later transitioned to television, gaining recognition as Soumya Diwan in Main Lakshmi Tere Aangan Ki (2011–2012) after her initial role in Aane Wala Pal on Doordarshan. Additionally, she participated in the dance reality show Nach Baliye 5. Throughout her career, Nisha Rawal has exhibited versatility, working across film, television, theatre, and music.

Downtown Mirror Woman – Nisha, Can you share your journey in the entertainment industry and how you got started?
Nisha Rawal – My journey in the entertainment industry has been nothing short of an adventure. I started as a model more then 22 years ago and gradually transitioned into television. Acting has always been my passion, and I was fortunate to work in projects that not only challenged me but also allowed me to grow as an artist. Over the years, I’ve explored different facets of the industry—acting, reality television, music videos, movies and even content creation—all of which have shaped my journey.
Downtown Mirror Woman – What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced in your career and how did you overcome them?
Nisha Rawal – Challenges are inevitable in any career, but in entertainment, they often come with a lot of scrutiny. One of my biggest challenges was navigating through tough personal experiences while maintaining my professional commitments. I overcame these moments by focusing on my resilience, surrounding myself with positive people, and continuously working on my emotional strength. Every setback taught me something valuable, and I learned to transform struggles into stepping stones. Besides that there is the known ghost of this profession which is inconsistency, this fluctuates the level of your fame and financial stability.
Downtown Mirror Woman – How have your experiences in the industry shaped you as a person?
Nisha Rawal – The industry has given me a strong mind, and a bigger heart. It has taught me patience, the value of hard work, and the importance of staying true to myself. Over the years, I’ve learned to embrace unpredictability, adapt to change, and never stop reinventing myself. More importantly, it has reinforced that success isn’t just about fame—it’s also the humans you meet along the way, who’s lives you touch and finally find your purpose.
Downtown Mirror Woman – What motivated you to participate in the reality show “Lock Upp” and how was your experience on the show?
Nisha Rawal – “Lock Upp” came at a time when I was at a turning point in my life. I saw it as an opportunity to show my true self, without any filters. It was an intense experience—mentally, emotionally, and physically—but it also made me stronger. The show taught me a lot about human dynamics, survival under pressure, and most importantly, my own strength. It was raw, real, and one of the most memorable journeys of my life.
Downtown Mirror Woman – How do you handle public perception and especially negative comments?
Nisha Rawal – Someone else’s opinion is not my reality. I’ve learned that public perception is ever-changing, and you can never truly control how people see you. What matters is how you see yourself. I focus on staying authentic and grounded. Negative comments can sting, but I remind myself that they come from someone’s perspective, and they not my truth. I choose to invest my energy in things that uplift me rather than letting negativity define me.
Downtown Mirror Woman – Who or what inspires you the most in your personal and professional life?
Nisha Rawal – My biggest inspiration is my son. He mere innocence and presence win my life gives me a strong urge to protect, nurture and provide him with the best. Being a mother has given my life a deeper purpose, and everything I do is with the intention of creating a better future for him. Professionally, I’m inspired by people who break barriers, challenge norms, and stay resilient in the face of adversity.

Downtown Mirror Woman – How do you balance your professional life with your personal life, especially being a mother?
Nisha Rawal – Balancing both worlds is a constant effort, but I’ve learned that presence matters more than perfection. I set clear priorities, ensuring that my son always knows he is my number one. I also believe in quality over quantity—when I’m working, I give it my all, and when I’m with my son, I’m fully present. It’s not always easy, but the key is to embrace the journey rather than seek an unrealistic balance. I try my best and i also give myself credit for it, i appreciate myself and validate my own feelings and emotions.
Downtown Mirror Woman – Which role or project has been the most memorable for you and why?
Nisha Rawal – Sonu Nigam’s “Chanda Ki DoNisli” has been very close to my heart. Today even after decades people still remember me with the success of that son. Every project has left a mark on me in some way, and “Lock Upp” allowed me to showcase my strength, vulnerability, and true self beyond just being an actor. It wasn’t just about entertainment; it was about personal transformation, and that’s why it remains one of the most impactful experiences of my career.
Downtown Mirror Woman – Are there any upcoming projects or roles that you’re particularly excited about?
Nisha Rawal – Yes, I’m exploring some exciting opportunities that align with where I am in life right now. I believe in choosing projects that challenge me and help me grow. While I can’t reveal much at the moment, I’m looking forward to stepping into spaces that allow me to evolve—not just as an artist, but as a storyteller, creator and a human being.
