Myanmar, Thailand Earthquake Updates: A 30-storey building under construction in Bangkok collapsed, trapping 43 workers; according to Bangkok police and medical personnel.
Powerful earthquake measuring 7.7 magnitude, struck central Myanmar early on Friday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). Strong tremors were also felt in the greater Bangkok area, which is home to over 17 million people.
The United States Geological Survey reports that the epicentres of the quakes were located 16 and 18 kilometers from Sagaing, a city situated about 250 kilometers from the capital, Naypyidaw.
Tremors were felt as far away as northern and central Thailand, with alarming videos circulating on X showing buildings shaking and people rushing into the streets in fear.

“I heard it… I was asleep in the house and immediately ran as far as I could, still in my pajamas, to get out of the building,” said Duangjai, a resident of the popular tourist city of Chiang Mai, in an interview with AFP.
One particularly disturbing video showed a skyscraper with an infinity pool swaying, causing water to spill over the edge.
Another video captured violent splashing in a small private pool, creating waves that resembled mini-tsunamis.
In yet another video, a second skyscraper appeared to collapse entirely, sending up a huge cloud of smoke and debris, as seen by locals who filmed the scene.
There have been no casualties reported as of now.
