Akshay Nalawade shares his commitment to portraying mythological characters with authenticity and emotional depth.
His dedication to language, tradition, and spirituality sets his performances apart.
Bringing divine characters to life on screen is no easy task, but actor Akshay Nalawade embraces the challenge with dedication and sincerity.
Known for his powerful portrayal of Garud Dev in Shiv Shakti: Tap Tyaag Taandav and Kakbhushundi Ramayan, Akshay believes in staying rooted in tradition while breathing human emotion into his mythological roles.
To portray Garud Dev with depth and authenticity, Akshay immerses himself in ancient scriptures and spiritual texts. For him, it’s not just about acting — it’s about honouring the cultural and spiritual significance of these revered figures.
“My aim is always to stay true and loyal to our Sanatan characters,” he shares. “I never want to distort the history or the essence of our deities. At the same time, I try to humanise the divine—to show Garud Dev not just as a powerful celestial being, but also as someone with purpose, emotion, and inner strength. That’s where creative interpretation comes in. It adds soul to the performance while keeping the authenticity intact.”
One of the biggest challenges he faces is delivering dialogues written in highly Sanskritised Hindi, a language far removed from everyday speech. But Akshay sees this as an opportunity to grow.
“Sanskritised Hindi isn’t something we use in daily conversation. It’s very poetic, rhythmic, and emotionally layered. That makes it both beautiful and demanding,” he explains. “I had to work a lot on my diction, clarity, and rhythm. Reading helped, but constant self-practice really made a difference.”
With time, Akshay has mastered the complex language and now delivers his lines with precision and emotional resonance. His dedication reflects a deep respect for the mythology he represents on screen.
