Social Media Has Lost Its Originality ,We’re All Just Copying Each Other- Pratiksha Rai

Actress Pratiksha Rai, who played Karishma in popular show Vasudha, opens up candidly about the current state of social media, reflecting on how it has evolved into a space of repetition and pressure. Speaking from personal experience, she says, “Nowadays, everything looks the same. The content feels repetitive, like people are just copying each other instead of creating something that’s truly theirs. And I’ll admit it, I’ve done that too, just to stay visible and follow trends.”

However, she adds that her relationship with social media changed deeply after a personal loss. “After losing my father, something in me just changed. Earlier, I loved posting pictures, making reels, and sharing moments. But after that, I don’t know, maybe it’s maturity or pain, but somewhere I lost that spark.”

Despite feeling disconnected from the digital world, she acknowledges how consuming it can still be. “Even I, someone who says I’m not into it, end up scrolling endlessly. Sometimes I catch myself thinking, ‘What am I doing?’ I don’t even watch films or web series anymore. I have all the subscriptions, Netflix, Prime, but I rarely open them. I just keep scrolling.”

Pratiksha admits that the addictive nature of social media is what makes it so hard to step away. “It’s scary because even when we know it’s not adding anything to our lives, we still can’t stop. We keep watching, scrolling, and repeating. Maybe we’ve just forgotten how to create something new,” she reflects.

On the professional side, she confesses that the pressure to stay relevant online is very real. “If I’m not active, people unfollow me and I don’t blame them. But sometimes I feel like making those trendy reels isn’t really me. Somewhere, life changed, and so did I.”

She concludes by saying, “Every artist today feels that silent pressure. We just want to be seen for our craft, not our follower count.”
