Somy Ali shares candid advice for newcomers, emphasizing the importance of emotional boundaries in the entertainment industry.
Her journey highlights resilience, self-awareness, and purpose beyond fame.
Somy Ali believes that emotional strength is just as important as talent for anyone entering the entertainment industry. Drawing from her personal journey, she often advises newcomers to build strong emotional boundaries early on, warning that the industry can be mentally and emotionally exhausting if one is not careful.

According to her, allowing constant rejection or comparison to define self-worth can be deeply damaging. She explains that the industry has a way of overwhelming individuals who internalise every setback. “This industry can swallow you whole if you let every rejection or comparison define you,” she says, adding that emotional boundaries are often misunderstood. “A healthy boundary is not a wall; it’s a filter, it lets opportunity in but keeps toxicity out.”
Somy openly acknowledges that learning emotional balance did not come easily to her. She shares that years of therapy and inner work helped her develop emotional flexibility and resilience. For her, self-preservation is not optional but essential. “Emotional self-preservation is a necessity,” she explains. She credits meditation for helping her detach from chaos, journaling for releasing emotional weight, therapy for processing trauma, and routine for keeping her grounded. She also points to her work with No More Tears, saying that service reminds her daily that purpose can be the strongest anchor during turbulent times.
Her experiences working with different co-actors also shaped her understanding of people and professional relationships. Reflecting on her time in the industry, Somy notes that not every working environment is the same. “Some co-actors are calm and collaborative. Others are insecure or unpredictable,” she says. Navigating these dynamics, she learned how to remain professional while safeguarding her own peace. “That experience taught me to build relationships with clarity and boundaries. I don’t take things personally anymore. I’ve seen too much to believe people are always what they show on the surface,” she concludes.
