“It’s A Win-Win For Creators and Audiences”: Kanwar Dhillon On Instagram Subscriptions

Kanwar Dhillon Believes Engaging Content Deserves Monetisation

Kanwar Dhillon Calls Instagram Subscription Model a Smart Move

Kanwar Dhillon, who has made a mark with shows like Pandya Store and Udne Ki Aasha, sees Instagram’s move towards subscription-based content as an important change in the digital world. He feels this shift could work well for both creators and their audiences.

Sharing his perspective, Kanwar Dhillon says, “I think Instagram subscriptions will eventually go the YouTube way—and might even surpass it—because Instagram is a more direct, short-duration-driven platform. It offers a different kind of space for creators to build their own markets. It’s a smart and bold move.”

Kanwar Dhillon Believes Engaging Content Deserves Monetisation

Opening up about why more creators are embracing this model, Kanwar Dhillon adds, “Creators have spent years putting in time, effort, and money to build their audience. So naturally, when they reach a certain level, they want to monetise it. Today, everyone is creating content, and platforms like YouTube have already normalised subscriptions for audiences.”

Kanwar Dhillon doesn’t believe that only specific content deserves to be paid for. “I don’t think there’s any particular genre that justifies being behind a paywall. Any content that is engaging and entertaining deserves that space. It all depends on how much value and connection it creates with the audience.”

Addressing the debate around charging for content on traditionally free platforms, Kanwar Dhillon explains, “At the end of the day, it’s about demand and supply. If audiences are willing to pay, it means they see value in it. And if they don’t want to, they simply won’t subscribe. It’s as simple as that.”

Why Creators Are Embracing Paid Content on Instagram

Talking about audience perception, Kanwar Dhillon acknowledges mixed reactions but remains optimistic. “There will always be a small section that may not agree, but a large section is already used to subscribing to content. People are willing to support what they enjoy.”

Summing it up, Kanwar Dhillon calls it a “win-win situation,” adding, “If creators are putting in hard work and audiences are ready to pay for it, it motivates creators to do better. It’s a strong and sustainable way of earning in today’s digital world.”
