Music composer Ankit Gupta, who made his Bollywood debut with Welcome To The Jungle, does not have any formal training in music production. A self-learned man, as there were not many music schools or courses for music production in Punjab. But he did take guitar and vocal training.
Ankit Gupta Says Convincing His Family Was His Biggest Challenge
He shared that the first hurdle he faced was to convince his family. Ankit Gupta said, “The biggest challenge was starting music at such a young age because it is an important stage in life. The first challenge was convincing my family. We come from families where education is considered more important, and there was no music background in my family either. So, it took time to make my family understand that I wanted to build a career in music.”
Mentors Played a Key Role in Ankit Gupta’s Musical Journey
Even after that, he admitted the learning curve in music itself was steep. Ankit Gupta said, “It also took me a long time to understand music composition and music production myself, and it was equally difficult to explain them to others. But my journey has been wonderful. I’ve been fortunate to learn from incredible mentors at every stage of my career. My understanding of music has grown mainly by assisting many talented people.”
Talking about his debut as a music composer with Welcome to the Jungle, Ankit described just how much the project meant to him. Ankit Gupta said, “I was very excited when I got the opportunity to work on Welcome to the Jungle. Everyone dreams of working in Hindi cinema, and I was no different. Since childhood, I had dreamed of hearing my song in theaters and seeing my name on the big screen.”
He spoke about the scale of the project and what made it stand out for a debut. Ankit Gupta said, “This project was incredibly special to me as it marked the beginning of my acting journey. Being part of such a stellar cast made the experience even more memorable.” Usually, we hope to work with at least one actor we admire, but this film had around 34 to 35 artists, many of whom are legends I always wanted to work with. Getting my first film with such a big cast was an amazing experience.”
The Afro-Tribal Song Received Love Even Before Its Release
He also shared the reception the song received even before its official release. Ankit Gupta said, “The song is based on Afro-tribal music. After the trailer was released, many people wanted to know which song it was and asked for it to be released soon. Many AI versions also appeared on YouTube. When the original song was finally released, the love it received was unbelievable for all of us.”
