Why ‘Boyfriend on Demand’ Reflects Changing Relationship Priorities
Actor Manas Shah who was seen in shows like Tulsi Humari Badi Sayani ,Yam Hain Hum, Hamari Bahu Silk, Wagle Ki Duniya, Spy Bahu, and Yeh Hai Chahatein, believes the growing popularity of the ‘boyfriend/girlfriend on demand’ trend reflects a deeper shift in how people view relationships today.
While the concept has sparked conversations across social media, the actor feels it is less about modern dating and more about people’s changing attitude towards commitment and emotional responsibility.
I think this trend is mainly driven by the fact that people no longer want to make long-term commitments. Not everyone wants to get married or take on the responsibilities that come with a relationship.
They want someone who is available to love them, spend time with them, or simply listen to them whenever they need it, without having to take responsibility for that person in return, Manas Shah says.

The idea of lifelong love and commitment seems to be fading, with relationships increasingly coming with conditions and limitations,” Manas Shah adds.
The actor also feels that these services are filling a much deeper emotional void, but only for a short period.
I believe they are filling a deeper emotional gap, but only in a temporary way. It’s like seeking short-term relief from loneliness rather than addressing the real issue.

If you visit metro cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru or Pune, you’ll notice many people sitting alone in cafés, reading a book or working on a laptop.
We are surrounded by people, yet many feel deeply lonely. In smaller towns and villages, there is still a stronger sense of community and human connection, he says.
Technology Can’t Replace Genuine Love and Commitment, Says Manas Shah
While acknowledging that technology has made such services easily accessible, Manas Shah believes it is only a medium.
Technology provides the platform, but it also reflects what people are missing in their personal lives. Genuine companionship, care and commitment cannot be replaced by convenience.
