Sushmiita Singh Reveals The Story Behind Her Project With Diljit Dosanjh | Exclusive

Sushmiita Singh is a well-known name in the showbiz world. The former Miss India United Continents has always proved that she is a diva whom many aspire to become. Recently, she was featured in a music video with Diljit Dosanjh. But do you know how she became a part of the project?

Sushmiita recently shared an interesting story about how she got the opportunity to work with Diljit Dosanjh. She revealed that she landed the role after being removed from another project. “In one of my recent projects, I got the opportunity because someone else took a role I was initially working on. I was upset since I had already been involved for half a month, but unexpectedly, I got the project with Diljit Dosanjh. If I hadn’t been removed from the previous one, I wouldn’t have gotten this music video. Everything happens for a reason—believe in yourself,” she said.

Sushmiita also spoke about colour bias in the industry and urged everyone to embrace themselves.

“You should never look at yourself—your body, your skin colour, or any part of who you are—in a negative way. Embrace yourself, because only when you do, others will too. If you don’t appreciate yourself, others won’t either. I have seen many people excel in different roles, not because they were the fairest, the best-looking, or the fittest in the room, but because they were confident in what they were doing. And that’s what truly matters as an actor—confidence is visible, and you can’t hide it. “There will always be obstacles and rejections,” she said.

However, Sushmiita mentioned that discrimination based on skin colour is decreasing in the industry. “I don’t believe fair skin is still seen as the ideal.” Beauty standards have changed significantly, and we have started embracing people of all races and skin tones. It’s beautiful to see this shift—whether in films, TV series, web shows, or even television commercials. If you look at recent projects, you’ll notice people from different regions of our country, representing diverse skin tones and backgrounds. We have evolved a lot, especially in the past 15–20 years, which has been the most transformative period,” she concluded.
