“Over time, I’ve found my own way of approaching roles,” Aishwarya Raj Bhakuni says. “I try to bring something personal to every character so it stands out. My own touch helps make each role feel different and real.”

Reflecting on her journey, she says her process has been more organic than structured. “I usually start by reading the script and understanding the character through my natural instincts. Then I rehearse with the director, understand their vision, what they want and what they don’t and accordingly shape my performance,” Aishwarya Raj Bhakuni explains, highlighting the importance of collaboration in her craft.
Training and Theatre: Building a Strong Acting Foundation
For Aishwarya Raj Bhakuni, acting is about striking the right balance between instinct and direction. “I rely more on instinct and personal interpretation, but I always keep the director’s vision in mind. It’s about aligning what I feel as an actor with what the project demands,” she adds.
Her foundation in acting, however, also comes from formal training. Aishwarya reveals that her time at Barry John Acting Studio played a significant role in shaping her skills. “It gave me a strong base. Along with that, I was deeply involved in theatre and drama during my school days, which helped me understand performance and expression better,” she says.
How Aishwarya Raj Bhakuni Brings Authenticity to Every Role
When adapting across genres, the actor keeps her process simple yet effective. “I begin by thoroughly reading the script, then add my own flavour wherever needed. After that, I rehearse with the director and co-actors, allowing space for improvisation. Once everything aligns with the director’s vision, I deliver the final performance on set,” Aishwarya Raj Bhakuni explains.
For Aishwarya, acting is not about rigid techniques but about staying true to the character while bringing in a personal touch, something that continues to define her growing body of work.
